AI for Teachers: confident, practical AI for your everyday work

AI tools change every week. What doesn't change is knowing how to use them well. This course builds that skill from the ground up.

Modules

Starting from zero: what AI is and how to talk to it

Day one levels the group. A complete beginner starts here and gets on the same page as everyone else. You also gain the theoretical grounding you may be missing, which lets you use AI efficiently rather than by trial and error. Safe and responsible use is covered at the practical level: what not to put in, how to check output, why the teacher stays responsible for the result.

Prompting as a teachable skill

Prompting as a transferable skill, not a list of magic phrases. This is what makes the course tool-independent. You practise structuring a request, giving context, iterating, and recognising why a prompt failed.

AI for lesson preparation and planning

Where the time-saving promise becomes concrete. You work on your own real material: planning a lesson, creating and adapting materials, differentiating for learners, building assessments. Group work matters, because a maths teacher and a language teacher adapt the same principle differently, and the sharing is where the know-how spreads.

AI for feedback, communication, and everyday admin

The other half of the time-saving story, aimed at the workload outside the lesson itself. Feedback, parent and colleague communication, and repetitive assessment reports, forms and similar written admin. We deliberately stay at the level of AI as an assistant, not building automated systems.

Adapting, problem-solving, and choosing tools

The independence module that closes the average-user level. You learn to evaluate a new AI tool, transfer your skills when a tool changes or disappears, and troubleshoot when something doesn’t work. It includes a roughly two-hour overview of current easy-win tools, such as NotebookLM and Sciobot, which also feeds the development plan in the final module.

Horizons: where AI is heading

A day framed as inspiration and horizon-opening, not hands-on training. AI agents and vibe coding for teachers, meaning building a simple tool or educational app in plain language. By the end of the day each participant builds one such simple app. Plus advanced tools current at the time of delivery. The aim is to show what is possible, so you know what to grow into.

Transfer to practice and your personal toolkit

Everyone ends together, regardless of how far they pushed on day five. Each participant builds a concrete personal development plan. The day also includes course evaluation and an optional prompt contest, for those who want to measure their skill, for a prize.

Learning outcomes

  • Explain in plain terms what an AI language model is doing when it responds, and use that understanding to ensure the outputs you rely on are high quality and that your use complies with data security and protection.

  • Get reliable, high-quality results from any AI tool by applying prompting principles rather than memorised phrases, and diagnose and fix a prompt yourself when the first result is wrong.

  • Use AI to create quality lesson plans and teaching materials for your own subject more efficiently, including differentiating for different learners, saving real preparation time.

  • Design more engaging lessons with AI, so the learning experience becomes more attractive and varied for your students.

  • Use AI to speed up feedback, communication, and routine written admin.

  • Find your way around new AI tools, judge whether they suit your teaching, and adapt what you already know to them without needing further training.

  • Try what AI agents and plain-language app-building can do, and by the end of day five build one simple educational app yourself.

  • Create a concrete, realistic personal development plan for your next steps in AI and digital tools, and evaluate your own learning across the course.

Target group

Teachers and school teams at all types of school who want to start using AI or deepen their skills, whatever their starting point. The course is open to complete beginners who have never opened an AI tool.

Methodology

The course is built on experiential and participatory learning and on Kolb’s learning cycle: you try something, go through it together, draw out the principle that holds in general, then apply it to your own subject. Each day has a theoretical and a practical part, so you try new methods on the spot and share your experience with the others. The emphasis is on group work, practical exercises, reflection, peer exchange, and immediate classroom application. The course is tool-independent and regularly updated as tools develop.

The course is led by Jakub Spišak, who has been training teachers, educators, trainers, youth workers and students in AI since 2023. It also draws on international good practice gathered through an Erasmus+ project.
